As a headline writer, I am sympathetic to those whose mistakes are printed in 42 point type for all the world to see. This headline from The Hickory Daily Record, where I once worked, baffles me, though. I wondered if the headline writer was making a joke that I just didn’t get. I don’t think so. I think the writer meant “Bored?”
This illustrates the homonym problem and the trouble it gives people who, just as I am, are paid to know better.
