Some people who write to us at the paper are concerned that our misspellings and incorrect grammar and usage in print and online set a bad example for children. Ads can do that, too. Below is an excerpt from an ad in the Travel section today (March 5) that misspells “its.” Perhaps it’s merely a typo, but I suspect that the writer was confused about “it’s” and “its” and tried another way to write it. The correct version is the possessive its.
